Stories forged in opportunity & struggle of our ancestor's endeavors to achieve the American Dream in Gary, Indiana

The purpose of Our Gary Stories is to share and preserve Gary, Indiana's legacy through our shared histories, stories and our ancestral family trees. Many of our ancestors migrated to Gary out of hope and opportunity. Unbeknownst to many of those new migrants their city would experience extraordinary tribulations following American Post-Industrialization and Racial Integration in the latter half of the 20th Century.

Our Gary Stories serves as a platform for Gary people to tell their own story from the heart instead of the typical unbalanced perspectives of our city from the outside.
